Linux provides lots of fast, graphical multimedia softwares and those are not based on fatty KDE or GNOME.


Sound mixer

GKrellM volume plugin is too handy. It is a component of GKrellM. Just place the mouse pointer on a button (as shown below ) and scroll the mouse wheel up/down to adjust.

gamix is a GTK+ ALSA native mixer tool and doesn't support OSS

aumix is small, easy sound card mixer. The old aumix-alsa is no more available. Present aumix works fine with the OSS compatibility layer of ALSA driver

xmix
is X11-based interface to the Linux sound driver mixer. This interface to the sound driver mixer allows easy adjustment of the sound card's input and output levels, and selection of sound source for recording.

asmix is a volume knob which adjusts the master volume of sound card. Adding asmix& in .xinitrc shows the knob on desktop and IceWMCP helps to hide the boarder and widow decoration of the asmix. Then asmix will become a floating volume knob on desktop.
