Setting Desktop Calendar
(Transparent)
gdeskcal
A little transparent Desktop calendar doesn't provide such a load on the PI 266MHz CPU so that you have to think to *kill* it. There is gdeskcal which provides such a transparent Desktop calendar. Remember if you have multiple wallpaper setting then during each and every wallpaper changing gdeskcal ask for CPU attention to redraw the transparency. So better you disable the transparency in this situation or set only a single wallpaper with transparency.
Just execute gdeskcal from a terminal and you can see a nice calendar on your Desktop. Remember to get the transparency you have to set the Icewm transparency support option. IceWMCP->IcePref2->Desktop->Support semi transparent applications. Below are some captured screens.
