xdkcal
xdkcal is not so fancy as gdeskcal and provides a simple transparent Desktop calendar. Run xdkcal from a terminal, you should see like below.
xdkcal
xdkcal -p8 -n3 -M red -x 0 -y 0 provides a more better look. To understand its command options please execute 'man xdkcal'
xdkcal -p8 -n3 -M red -x 0 -y 0
When you feel satisfied with a setting just add xdkcal & in your .xinitrc. Remember xdkcal remembers the setting. Now .xinitrc should look like
xdkcal
&
chbg -scenario
chbg.list &
icewm-session
I have noticed in my machine that gdeskcal
loads faster than xdkcal and obviously the skins made gdeskcal very nice.
More over gdeskcal is totally controlled by GUI.
